SPEED POLES

How Would You Like To Pocket One Day’s Worth Of Payroll Money Every Week?

Think About Your Last Job – How Much Money Would That Be?

Using NON-STOP Speed Poles, you can do that. Every week. On every job.

Think about this: For a one-week job, you get paid the bid price whether you pay your men for 4 days or 5 days. Using NON-STOP Speed Poles you’ll finish the job in 4 days and keep the fifth day’s payroll money for yourself.

All you have to do is lay 5 day’s worth of material in 4 days. Sound tough? Actually, your men are laying brick that fast right now! But they are wasting about 3 hours a day building leads. Turn the lead-building time into straight-wall time and they’ll lay at least 20% more without ever realizing it.

Here’s Why It Works:

The experts say your bricklayers spend as much as half their time building leads, but just for the sake of arguement, let’s say it’s only one-third. In addition, they only lay a third as fast buiding leads as they do laying between the leads. If you could turn their total work time into nothing but straight-wall time, they would put in 23% more material. With no leads to build, your men are laying at top speed all day long.

How It Works

The NON-STOP Speed Pole System is uniquely designed to accomodate both inside and outside corners as well as quoin corners. There are five basic pole fittings:

Top and Bottom fittings for outside corners.

Top and Bottom fittings for inside corners.

And one Universal Line Carrier.

(Optional Top and Bottom fittings for 3/4″ quoin corners are also available. They allow you to build the quoins to the line as you go, rather than putting them in later. See below.)

The poles the fittings ride on are 1-1/2″ square tubing. You can buy it yourself, but the poles that we supply, and our telescoping pole system, are made from high-tensile tubing we have specially milled for us for the Standard-Duty and Workhorse scaffolding. It’s stiff and extremely hard to bend.

For commercial work, or places where there’s no cornice to attach to, use the Commercial Adapter below.

SPECIAL TOP AND BOTTOM FITTINGS MAKE QUOIN CORNERS EASY.

Quoin fittings position the pole a little bit farther out from the corner. Putting the line on the different pegs on the Universal Line Carrier positions the line perfectly for 3/4″ quoins.

Notice how the line wraps completely around the pole. The center peg is used for a perfect 3/4″ quoin corner.

Now you can build quoin corners without costing you a dime. It just becomes part of the wall.

ABOUT TUBING

All Speed Pole Fittings fit on 1-1/2″ square tubing. If you go to a steel service center to get your own, hand pick it to be sure it’s straight. Check it to see how much it flexes. Different thicknesses have different amounts of flex. All poles supplied by Non-Stop are cut from our high-tensile 13-gauge STANDARD-DUTY tower tubing. They are straight, and much stiffer than the garden-variety tubing you will find. $3.90 per foot.

ABOUT THE FITTINGS

The standard top fittings, A, B, and C, position the line perfectly when clamped to the back side of the cornice. Any small C-clamp will do since the weight of the pole is supported by the bottom fitting.

The Line Carrier, D, is the same for both inside and outside corner poles.

The bottom fittings, E, F, and G, fit right against the first course. They have a movable finger you lay into the bed joint. It supports the weight of the pole and holds it in position. When you’re done, just tap it with your brick hammer and it slides right out of the joint.

The quoin corner fittings are a little longer than standard fittings so you can position the line for either quoins or the veneer as you build the wall. Simply move the line to different pegs to position it for a 3/4″ quoin or the venner as you go. No need to come back for quoins.

Commercial Adapter

The Commercial Adapter holds the top of your pole ANYWHERE. No cornice? No problem. It replaces the top fitting and is clamped or nailed (holes provided) to columns, back-up walls, or virtually any solid object close to your pole, either behind the wall or in front of it. It adjusts 5 ways so you can plumb your pole in about 10 seconds. Works on any inside or outside corner.

Commercial Adapter $75.00

Telescoping Poles – 8′ to 15′

Telescoping poles are the newest innovation in our Speed Pole lineup. They set up fast on virtually any wall, and eliminate the headache of carrying around a lot of one-piece poles that are either too short or too long.

Telescoping poles consist of a 1.25″ square tube telescoped inside of a 1.5″ square tube.
Each one is 8 feet long. The 1.5″ tube has two notches milled in one corner near the top so that when it’s extended to the proper length, a screw can pass through the notch, locking the pole to length. Maximum length is 15 feet.

See the pictures below for a complete explanation of how the system works.

8′ to 15′ Telescoping Pole only (no fittings): $85.00

Adapter Sleeves: $5.00

1. The bottom fitting is installed just as described above.

2. This is one of two line carriers used on telescoping poles. Your line will start on this carrier and will be raised with every course until you come to the second line carrier (3).

3. This is the second line carrier. The screw that locks it to the pole is passing through the top notch, locking the pole to the proper length.

4. This is a sleeve with a notch milled in a corner. Sleeves are used inside the fittings when they are on the smaller pole. They keep all the spacing right.

5. This is the standard top pole fitting. On commercial jobs, this is where a commercial adapter is normally attached. If you look closely, you can see the sleeve protruding from the bottom of the top fitting. Click the picture for a larger view.

The picture on the right shows the first line carrier (2) raised as high as possible.

At this point, you transfer the line to the second line carrier (3), then lower the first line carrier (2) to the bottom notch (lower arrow) and tighten it. It will now be holding the pole to length.

The line has been transferred to the upper line carrier (3) which now has the sleeve inside of it. The holding screw passes through the notch cut in the sleeve. This line carrier is used to lay the brick all the way to the top of the pole.
